A sweet bedtime story that allows the child to be the main character! With an opportunity to color and create on each page, it inspires wonder and joy and a personal journey that gently guides the child from their busy day into their dreamy night
Although Jean does not have her own children, she is the proud and loving aunt of Meredith, Molly, and Emma. Throughout each of their childhoods, she is so grateful to them for allowing her to stay in touch with that part of her that feels most like home. Jean clearly knows that her childlike qualities and joys live loudly inside her, and because of that, she feels connected to the minds and hearts of the children she meets. She enjoys seeing the world through their beautiful eyes, sensing their emotions, and then being with them in a way that connects their souls. It is with all these pieces that this story, My Nighttime Friends, (and hopefully many more to come) was created. Prior to authoring this book, Jean enjoyed a long, rewarding career as a Human Resources banking executive and currently lives in Norwood, Massachusetts.
I thought the idea of a child starring in a dream would be a sweet way to tuck them into bed at night. Imagine that as they close their eyes and drift off, they enjoy hearing about a magical dream adventure, and then maybe even experience one of their own. But when I tried to decide what the character should look like, well, I couldn't. I wanted every child who enjoyed this story to see themselves as the main character. I wanted them to be the star and so, although there is an outline of the dreamer on each page, the child is invited to color and draw exactly how they envision the character to look-perhaps just like them! Combining imagination and creativity along with a starring role seems like a perfect way for a child to enter their own personal dreamland.
